Fact Sheet on School Presentation Program

The program was developed to supplement the teaching of Islam and Muslim culture in the context of Global History and Social Studies. Presentations are offered throughout the school year at the teacher’s request, and they run for about 40-90 minutes depending on the time available and the level of detail expected by the teacher and students. ISBNY’s typical presentation covers a wide variety of topics, such as:

• Muslim beliefs and practices and how they apply in America


• Muslim population around the world, including America


• Shared values/heritage between Islam, Christianity and Judaism


• Islamic holidays and celebration


• Women in Islam


• Stereotyping in popular culture


• Current newsworthy events
